Seek to Serve is a leadership skills program designed to develop, enhance, and promote servant leadership for grassroots leaders. Thirty participants are invited to explore and address the issues that confront their own neighborhoods and the entire Memphis community. Each month the participants travel to different locations throughout the county to learn how practitioners in the areas of health, education, housing, and business serve the community. By using the philosophy of servant leadership, the class members are asked to present their concerns to these experts and share responses with family, friends and neighbors. Then they are required to share this information with another. The Nspirer was a greatly welcomed asset to the Seek to Serve Program . Only alumni are eligible to serve as Nspires. Those who choose to take on this task are committed to serving the class for the next year. They have the responsibility of developing the classes for the incoming class. These persons also attend other leadership events as well as extra classes and duties. Their job is to encourage and inspire the class members but also be a servant leader. |
